The history of the Franciscan Order during its first two centuries of existence has been the subject of intense research and study. The Sources for the Life of Saint Francis are of fundamental importance to understand the historical background in which the Order of Friars Minor was born and developed. Many of these mediaeval documents are now edited, and they have been translated into English and can be read by the general public.
On Thursday 25th
February 1988 Fr. Marjan Vella died at the Franciscan friary of our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Sliema, Malta. He was 60 years old. This year the Maltese Franciscan OFM Province is commemorating the 25th
anniversary of the death of this Franciscan poet.
On the 10th of February the Maltese community in London celebrated the Feast of Saint Paul’s Shipwreck. This venue took place at Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Brixton honored by the presence of H.E. Joseph Zammit Tabona, the Malta High Commissioner and his wife Susan.
