Franciscan Province – MALTA

During the short visit of His Holiness to Malta, various friars took part in activities and visits that were planned for this short but very beneficial occasion.  During his holiness’s visit to St. Paul’s Parish Church in Rabat, many of the local friars had the opportunity to greet him as his cortège passed in front of our Franciscan Church.  On Sunday morning many of the friars took part during the celebration of the Eucharist at the granaries. Deacon Stephen Magro OFM had the privilege of reading  the Gospel during the meeting with the youth of Malta which took place at the Water Front Valletta.  He also had the unique opportunity to exchange a brief chat with the Pope.

Franciscans International Presents First Human Rights Award to ‘Father of Peace’

“No one better than Franciscans can play the role for peace,” advocated Rev. Fr. Dionysius Mintoff OFM, of the Franciscan OFM Province in Malta, as he received the inaugural Franciscans International (FI) Human Rights Award at their office in Geneva, Switzerland on 9 April 2010.

Rev. Fr. Dionysius Mintoff OFM, of our Franciscan OFM Province in Malta, will be receiving the ” Inaugural award of Human Rights 2010″ at the Franciscans International in Geneve. The celebration will be held at the Franciscans International Offices in Geneve on the 9th April 2010.
