Day of recollection for all the Friars
On the 14th May, a day of recollection was organised for all the friars in our Retreat House in Baħar iċ-Ċagħak. The Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Malta, the Rt. Rev. Charles J. Scicluna, was invited to offer the Reflection in virtue of the coming Provincial Chapter 2014. The Bishop, while showing a true appreciation of the work done by the Friars in the Maltese Archdiocese, stressed on the importance of our Franciscan Spirituality as a living witness of Christ in the modern society.

The Ex-Minister General and Bishop elect, Mgr. José Rodriguez Carballo OFM, has been in Malta to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Joseph’s statue in Rabat – Mdina, Malta, on the invitation of the Arch-Confraternity of St. Joseph in Rabat, Mdina, and the Franciscan OFM Province. He was accompanied by the General Secretary for Formation and Studies, Fr. Vidal Rodriguez OFM, Fr. Joseph Magro OFM, the Communications director at the general Curia, and his personal Secretary, Fr. Francisco Arellano OFM.

Fr. Benjamin Galea OFM, RIP
Fr. Benjamin (Carmelo) Galea O.F.M. from Valletta (ex Provincial Definitor, ex Provincial Bursar, ex Guardian and founder of Porziuncola Retreat House, Bahar ic-Caghaq), has passed away early this morning 18 th Aprl 2013 at Mater Dei Hospital, Tal-Qroqq, Msida. He was 96 years old, the oldest friar of our Province. Tomorrow a concelebrated mass preasente cadavere will be held at 9.30 am at St. Francis’ Church, Hamrun. The internment will be held at the Addolorata cemetry. May the Lord grant him eternal rest. R.I.P.
